Little Damage
700 S Spring St.
Los Angeles, CA 90014
Do a quick search on Instagram for Little Damage and you’re bound to find several photos of their claim to fame: black ice cream! Varying in flavor (they recently featured Black Thai Tea), the unique soft serve gets its color from the use of activated charcoal – and don’t worry, it’s totally edible!
If the idea of eating charcoal isn’t for you, Little Damage features other unique flavors such as Unicorn Tears (described by an associate as tasting like birthday cake), Lychee (fruit flavored and my top choice), and Vegan Cookie Butter. All scoops come with a free topping such as sprinkles or Fruity Pebbles, making the $7 price tag hurt just a little bit less. On Tuesdays, the waffle cones become waffle shells to celebrate “Taco Tuesday”!
The shop is very small and seating is limited, so expect to stand around with your ice cream. Little Damage is also known for its long lines but I was lucky to walk in with only one or two people ahead of me. The trendy treat is worth the wait, though, and the parlor’s excellent customer service and social media friendly decor make for a fabulously fun experience!
