Maccheroni Republic
332 S. Broadway
Los Angeles, CA 90013
Maccheroni Republic is a beautiful little Italian restaurant that specializes in artisan handmade organic pastas. I immediately fell in love with its rustic decor and wood panel ceilings. The dark wood panels and the copper pottery gave off a warm, welcoming vibe. For those looking for outdoor dining, Maccheroni Republic also has a patio surrounded by a myriad of greenery. It’s privacy almost makes you forget that you’re in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city.
Since they don’t allow reservations, my friend Kaci and I took advantage of the 3PM pre-dinner rush and grabbed a bite in the nearly empty dining room. The restaurant can get pretty busy in the evenings so if crowds aren’t your thing, definitely go early.
For an appetizer we had the burratina con pomodorini, which went great with the complimentary bread for the table. As an entree, I ordered the bianchi & neri. The dish consists of black and white thin vermicelli pasta with shrimp, mushrooms, and pancetta in a creamy bisque sauce. Since it was a Friday during Lent, I ordered mine without the pancetta (oh, the struggle!) but it was still amazingly tasty.
